QUEBEC — The Quebec government will be helping out struggling print media outlets with a new tax credit to support their digital transformation.
The measure, announced in Tuesday’s budget plan, would cost $64.7 million over five years, with most of that money coming as of 2020-21.
The refundable 35 per cent tax credit will be open to print media at least a year old that “produce, in Quebec, original, written informational content of general interest” daily or at least 10

The X-Files’ 11th season wrapped last week, but Montrealers haven’t seen the last of Mulder and Scully.
David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will take part in a Q&A at Montreal Comiccon, and will be available for autographs and photo ops on Saturday, July 7.

Divers resume search for 10-year-old Ariel, missing since March 12
Montreal police divers returned to the banks of the Rivière des Prairies Tuesday morning in an effort to find 10-year-old Ariel Kouakou, who went missing from his parents’ north-end home two weeks ago.
Investigators continue to favour the theory that the boy drowned, however no other possibility — including abduction — is being dismissed, which is why the case is still classified as a criminal investigation.

Mayor Valérie Plante lashed out at the municipal opposition for asking why she has not defended the police investigation into 10-year-old Ariel Jeffrey Kouakou, who disappeared in Rivière-des-Prairies two weeks ago.
“Is it normal that the municipal administration has not spoken out, has not publicly defended its police force and especially reassured Montrealers?” Ensemble Montreal councillor Francesco Miele asked Plante during Tuesday’s question period.

Dorval village up for discussion at workshop
The city of Dorval is inviting citizens to take part in a public workshop on the redevelopment of the “village” portion of Lakeshore Drive.
The workshop will take place on Monday, April 9, from 6:30 to 9 p.m., in Salon D of the Sarto Desnoyers Community Centre.

Suspect in critical condition after hit and run in east end
A driver in his 30s is in critical condition in hospital Tuesday morning after the car he was driving collided with two other vehicles during what police are calling a hit and run.
The incident began at about 7:30 a.m. with a collision between the suspect’s vehicle and another car at Ste-Catherine and Joliette Sts. in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve.
As the suspect fled the scene in his vehicle, he collided with a second car on Ste-Catherine St. — the impact causing his car to roll over.
