Recently, he went on his TVA network to clear up any doubt in the minds of PQ supporters about his availability for the election due by Oct. 1.

What the Puck: With GM Bergevin at Canadiens' helm, another reef looms
Now is the winter of our discontent.
Habs fans are in a funk. Again. For the second time in three years, the Montreal Canadiens will miss the playoffs and there is nothing more depressing than a spring in our city with no playoff hockey to celebrate.
Since early January, it’s been pretty clear that this sad-sack team was not going to make the post-season and, naturally, folks’ interest in watching the games has been dropping big-time. TV ratings are down and there are loads of empty -
Editorial: Quebec's flood action plan is welcome
Increasingly, it feels as if spring might be just around the corner. For most of us, that’s a cheerful thought. Perhaps less so for those still recovering from last year’s devastating floods in various parts of Quebec, including western Montreal.
Forecasters are not expecting anything of that magnitude this spring, thankfully. Such floods have been rare. Still, climate change is expected to increase the incidence of extreme weather, including flooding. So there is no time like the pr -

Quebec’s Crown prosecutor’s office announced Friday that it will not appeal the acquittal of former construction magnate Tony Accurso.
A jury found Accurso not guilty last month on one charge of breach of trust.
Accurso was accused of giving a $300,000 cheque and other gifts to the late mayor of Mascouche in exchange for contracts for his construction company, which used to be one of the biggest in the province.

It's artificial intelligence versus raw emotion in Marjorie Prime
“Is it live or is it Memorex?” went the ad slogan for a brand of magnetic recording tape back in the ’80s. Six decades worth of accelerated technology later and the audience, made privy to a future world of A.I. companions for the aged and the bereaved (circa 2040), is forced to ask a similar question of at least one of the four characters in Jordan Harrison’s elegant, achingly poignant play, Marjorie Prime, which is at Segal Centre to March 18.

Lesley Chesterman: Pass the popcorn for home movies with the kids
Growing up in Montreal, once a week I’d head out to see the movie du moment, at first with family and later with friends. Movies played a big part in my life — so much so that I still recall the $1.50 kids’ ticket to Star Wars in 1977 and Grease in 1978, and that I saw each movie eight times at the Côte-des-Neiges cinema.
I remember seeing films with actual intermissions, like Gone With the Wind, The Sound of Music and Barry Lyndon, at the majestic Snowdon Theatre. I reca -

Wine: Costières de Nîmes is a well-kept secret, and a bargain
People are always on the lookout for something new, and for a bargain. One of my personal faves that fills both those needs is a lesser-known region in southern France called Costières de Nîmes. While I have yet to visit, I have come to know its wines pretty well.
The appellation has an interesting history. It has one of France’s oldest vineyards, planted by Greeks and continued by the Romans during the time of Julius Caesar. Throughout most of its history, it was part of -

Under $16
Côtes du Ventoux 2015, Grande Réserve des Challières, France red, $11.95, SAQ # 331090. Always a bargain, and this vintage is even better. Very earthy Rhône red, with black olive and meaty notes acting as a nice juxtaposition to the dark fruit. This is southern grenache and syrah doing its thing, with texture and good length.
