Impact loses Blerim Dzemaili as coaching staff is unveiled
There is no truth to the rumour that Pommes de terre à la lyonnaise will be served at the Impact’s pregame meals this season.
But there is a definite Lyon flavour to the team’s 2018 coaching staff, which was introduced Wednesday at the teams training centre.
Head coach Rémi Garde relied heavily on his experience with France’s Olympique Lyonnais as he added assistant coach Maxence Flachez, goalkeeper coach Joël Bats and fitness coach Robert Duverne. Gard -
Heather O’Neill, harassed during her time at Concordia, sickened by latest allegations
Prominent Montreal author Heather O’Neill said Concordia must act now to put a stop to a culture of predatory behaviour in its creative writing department.
“It has to change,” said O’Neill, who attended the program. “It has just been too disgusting for too long.”
O’Neill told the Montreal Gazette in an interview Wednesday that she was one of the victims of what she called a “gross abuse of authority” perpetrated by men who not only cont -
Allison Hanes: Valérie Plante's first budget breaks a key promise
Looking back just under four years from now, the moment when Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante’s political honeymoon came to an end will be easy to pinpoint.
It was Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018, shortly after 11 a.m., when, in explaining her administration’s first budget to the media, she tried to insist the 3.3-per-cent increase in Montrealers’ overall residential tax bill was in line with her campaign promise to keep any hikes to the rate of inflation.

City asks for patience as we brace for more cold, freezing rain
If the persistent snow banks didn’t make getting around hard enough, freezing rain is expected to be added to the mix on Wednesday and Thursday.
We’ve gone from deep freeze, to seasonal norms, to unseasonably warm weather and are now bracing for freezing rain, rain, a snowstorm, and then back to the deep freeze. The coming weather even led to Air Canada issuing a travel warning and to waive the usual fees for anyone wishing to change their travel plans from Jan. 11 to Jan. 14.

Concordia to investigate allegations of sexual misconduct
Concordia University president Alan Shepard said he only learned Monday about what some on social media are calling an “open secret” — allegations of sexual misconduct by certain professors in the university’s respected creative writing program.

Opinion: Amid NAFTA uncertainty, Canada has allies in New England
U.S. President Donald Trump has promised Americans a renegotiated, more advantageous NAFTA, but beneath his commercial sabre-rattling lies a more promising and perhaps more interesting story. Across New England, state leaders are approaching trade with Canada from the perspective of mutual benefits.
NAFTA talks and the perpetually thorny issue of softwood lumber have concealed much of the economic relationship between Canada and the United States. In New England, that relationship is perhaps bes -
