Les 7 Doigts plus 4D Art equals intimate multimedia show Temporel
The superhuman brio of circus skills, the spectacular dazzle of digital technology. The raison d’être of both these activities is, on the face of it, to put paid to the ordinary and the everyday. It makes sense, then, that two Montreal-based companies renowned for bringing a counterintuitive human scale to these respective art forms got together to create a show.
Temporel, which opens at Cinquième Salle of Place des Arts on Wednesday, Jan. 10, explores the life of an -

Opinion: Bigger container ships mean challenges for port of Montreal
Ports around the world have to confront the increasing size of container ships. Few ports possess the natural water depths of up to 15 metres now required by the very largest of them. Typical solutions include dredging, as is the case of most U.S. East Coast ports, or building new terminals offshore, as is the case of Rotterdam and Shanghai.
These challenges now confront the port of Montreal. Its traffic of 1.5 million Teus (20-foot-equivalent units) is many times larger than its East Coast comp -

About last night … Canadiens beat Lightning in overtime
If the Canadiens play the final 41 games of the season they way they played the last game of the first half …

The team still faces a steep – with gusts to monumental – climb to make the playoffs.
But for one early January night, the Canadiens played like some of their most ardent fans thought they would when this star-crossed season began.
They went toe-to-toe against one of the best teams in the league … and beat them. -

Under $16
Montepulciano d’Abruzzo 2016, Masciarelli, Italy red, $15.80, SAQ # 10863774. Never disappointing if you want a big wine without a big price. Yes, there’s a bit of sugar and sweetness to the fruit, but the balance is there, leaving you with a long, lingering finish and with enough tannin to structure the wine. Touch of herbs adds depth.
