Update: No one found in car that sank in Rivières-des-Prairies
In the end, no one was found in the car that sank into the icy Rivière-des-Prairies on Tuesday morning.
Montreal police were called a few minutes after midnight after witnesses spotted a car floating in the river at the end of Notre-Dame-des-Anges St. in Cartierville.
When police arrived, the car was in the process of sinking, said Constable Andrée-Anne Picard.

Child dies in Trois-Rivières house fire
A three-year-old boy died early Tuesday after a fire broke out in his home in Trois-Rivières.
His parents suffered burns trying to rescue their son from the blaze and are being treated in hospital for their injuries, police said.
Firefighters also tried to rescue the child, but were repelled by the intense flames.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. -

The gold-headed cane: The first ocean-going ship of the year has arrived in Montreal. The Ottawa Express container ship flies the flag of Bermuda and had left Liverpool, England, on Dec. 21. Divers set to plunge into icy Rivières-des-Prairies to find sunken car
On one of the coldest mornings of the season, the special weapons and tactical team was suiting up to take a dive in the frigid Rivière-des-Prairies.
Montreal police got a call a few minutes after midnight on Tuesday for a car that appeared to have plunged into the river in Cartierville.
