Man, 84, dies in house fire in eastern Quebec
An 84-year-old man died in a house fire in Sainte-Luce, near Rimouski, Friday night.
The fire broke out around 10 p.m. in the home on Route 132 West. A woman escaped from the burning house in flames, but the man was trapped there.
The firefighters finally managed to get the unconscious man out but he was declared dead in hospital.
The cause of the fire is unknown but arson is not suspected, according to the Sûreté du Québec. -

Woman stabbed by stranger in Montreal's east end
A 31-year-old woman was stabbed on the street early Saturday night in the Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough.
She was walking on de Grosbois St. shortly after midnight when a man approached her from behind, held a knife under her throat and threatened her.
The woman screamed, which made the man run away after stabbing her. Her injuries were not life-threatening.
The woman said she did not know the attacker. She described him as a white, dark-haired, French-speaking man in his 20s.

A 47-year-old woman died after being hit by a car in Pointe-Claire. Police said they believe she was crossing the street when she was struck. A 47-year-old woman was transported to hospital in critical condition on Friday evening after she was hit by a car, Montreal police said. She later succumbed to her injuries.
The incident took place at the corner of Brunswick Blvd. and Fairview Ave. in Pointe-Claire shortly after 7 p.m.
Police said they believe the woman was crossing the street when she was struck.
