The Quebec Court of Appeal has overturned a jury’s verdict in which Adele Sorella, the wife of a known Mafia leader, was found guilty of murdering her two young daughters.
In doing so, the appellate court has ordered a new trial for Sorella, who was found guilty on June 24, 2013, of killing her daughters, ages 8 and 9, on March 31 ,2009. Sorella was accused of using an oxygen tent to kill both girls while her husband, Giuseppe De Vito, was on the lam on drug-smuggling charges. -

Workers on the construction of the new $4.2-billion Champlain Bridge have already made 2,000 repairs to faulty material used to build the span’s supports, according to a news report Monday.

Ceremony on Mount Royal will honour victims of 1989 Polytechnique massacre
Mayor Valérie Plante is inviting Montrealers to attend a ceremony on Wednesday commemorating the 14 women slain at École Polytechnique on Dec. 6, 1989.

Update: Service resumes on métro's Orange Line after rush-hour shutdown
Service resumed on the métro’s Orange Line by 9:50 a.m. The shutdown between Côte-Vertu and Lionel-Groulx stations was called for because of the presence of smoke in the system. It was down for about an hour.
