QUEBEC – Chomedey MNA Guy Ouellette has been re-admitted to the Liberal caucus.
Emerging from a closed-door meeting Tuesday, caucus chairwoman Filomena Rotiroti confirmed Liberal MNAs had discussed the issue and decided Ouellette will be allowed back in despite his arrest in October by the Unité permanente anticorruption (UPAC).

A judge has refused a Quebec provincial police officer’s request to have a charge against him dropped in the death of a five-year-old boy.
Patrick Ouellet is accused of dangerous driving causing the death of Nicholas Thorne-Belance.

Nearly 90% of Quebec households have Internet access
The Internet connection rate for Quebec households was 88.2 per cent in 2016, a significant increase from the 2012 rate of 81.6 per cent, according to the Institut de la statistique du Québec.
Among connected households, 38.5 per cent have a mobile Internet connection, which is also significantly higher than in 2012, when it was 19.6 per cent.

Harinder Singh Cheema, a man who was once on Canada’s most wanted list after he disappeared when he stabbed his wife, has been found guilty of second-degree murder.
Cheema admitted he stabbed his wife, Gurpreet Kaur, on Dec. 24, 2007. He was hoping the jury would consider a manslaughter verdict. The murder happened inside the couple’s apartment in the St-Laurent borough.

Endangered whales: Transport Canada fines ships for flouting speed restrictions
Transport Canada says it has fined three ships for allegedly not complying with speed restrictions aimed at protecting whales.
Penalties of $6,000 were issued to the vessels Azoresborg, New Shanghai and Jacqueline C, the federal department said Tuesday.
