The controversial Formula E race is scheduled to take place in Montreal next July 28, but the city’s mayor-elect said the electric car race won’t take place on city streets.

Montreal has lost another yet another original: writer, filmmaker, historian and — in spite of his geniality — occasional provocateur: William Weintraub passed away Monday night at the age of 91.

The Société de transport de Montréal has invited the public to honour the memory of Montreal poet and songwriter Leonard Cohen by attending a karaoke event at the Place-des-Arts métro station on Nov. 9.
The event, which will be held before the Frédéric Back glass display from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., will be hosted by Urockaoke, a band that specializes in karaoke.
