The Canadiens announced Sunday that they have reached a mutual agreement to terminate the contract of the 22-year-old Czech forward. Wind and torrential rain: Storm to hit Montreal Sunday night
If the weather feels wet and ugly now, just wait a couple of hours.
Environment Canada issued a rain warning for the Montreal area starting late Sunday and into Monday, with the possibility of torrential rains.
Watch for flash flooding and violent winds, warns Environment Canada. A low-pressure system is moving up the eastern American seaboard and the storm is expected to get stronger as it gets closer.
About 50 to 70 millimetres of rainfall is expected to hit the island of Montreal. -
All-terrain vehicle accident Friday: victim found Saturday afternoon
A 23-year-old man who was involved in an ATV crash Friday in the Mauricie region was found Saturday afternoon in critical condition.
The man lost control of his vehicle Friday night in a forest road, between Parent and Clova, and then fell into a deep ditch.
Seriously injured, he likely spent the night in the forest before he finally crawled to a nearby road.
A passerby discovered him mid-Saturday afternoon, around 3:30 p.m.

Montreal Zombie Walk: Undead fun on the city's streets Saturday
Zombies swarmed the streets of downtown Montreal on Saturday.
The zombies made their way west along de Maisonneuve Blvd., rampaged onto McGill College Ave. and slithered on via Ste-Catherine St. on their way to the Place des Festivals for more gruesome entertainment.
Among the walking dead were mariachi zombies, dismembered human marionettes, a zombie military marching band and funny floats.

Flu shot: Quebec expects nearly 2 million doses
Quebec is launching its annual flu vaccination campaign Wednesday, and medical authorities are stressing the importance of prevention, especially for young children and seniors.
Dr. Yves Jalbert, deputy director of Public Health Protection, said the vaccine is highly recommended for infants six to 23 months old, people with chronic illnesses, pregnant women, and those over the age of 60.
Relatives of people in this high-risk group, as well as health workers, are also targeted.

Advance voting opens in 900 Quebec municipalities
Advance polling stations are open in about 900 municipalities in Quebec for early ballot casting on Sunday.
The polling stations will be open from noon to 8 p.m.
In Montreal, 7.75 per cent of eligible voters took advantage of the right to cast a ballot in advance polls in 2013. The total turnout rate was 43.3 per cent.
About 100 hundred polling stations will be available to Montreal voters.

Arson suspected in overnight fire at Montreal business
Montreal police are investigating a suspicious fire that broke out Saturday night in a commercial building in the Ahuntsic—Cartierville borough.
A fire alarm went off at about 12:30 a.m., activating the sprinkler system in a business on Pontgravé St. The flames started near a trade entrance door but the fire was quickly brought under control with the sprinklers and the firefighters’ intervention.
