Standing in front of a large parking lot on Pierrefonds Blvd. Wednesday, Denis Coderre confirmed plans to replace it with a $45-million aquatic centre that could be open in Pierrefonds-Roxboro within the next three years.

Projet Montréal says it has a plan to safeguard vacant heritage buildings in the city from falling into disrepair.

Worker injured at Phillips Square
A man was injured in downtown Montreal’s Phillips Square Wednesday when the aerial work platform he was working on collapsed.
The man in his 40s suffered minor injuries to his shoulder when the platform fell to the ground, said Urgences Santé spokesperson Steve Kouloumentas.
Urgences Santé received the call at about 1:15 p.m. The man was brought to a hospital.

Montreal police get nearly 16% salary increase over 7 years
Montreal and its police union have signed a new contract that gives 4,500 officers a 15.75-per-cent salary boost over seven years, the city said Wednesday.
The contract, which covers Jan. 1, 2015, to Dec. 31, 2021, ends a contentious labour dispute. For almost three years, disgruntled officers wore combat pants in protest.
