One of the organizers of the Montreal marathon says almost 900 people received medical attention as Sunday’s 10-kilometre and half-marathon events took place in the blazing heat.

3 injured in separate armed assaults in Montreal
Montreal police is investigating armed assaults that left three injured on Saturday night.
Around 1:45 a.m., police officers were alerted that shots had been heard in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve neighbourhood.
They found a 30-year-old man who had been shot in the mouth, at the intersection of Sherbrooke St. and Pépinière Ave. The individual, whose life is not in danger, is known to police.

PARIS — The World Anti-Doping Agency has been given the mandate to renegotiate the agreement it already has with the city of Montreal to maintain its headquarters there.

The Sûreté du Québec reported numerous accidents this weekend, including three fatalities on Saturday.
On Saturday night in Alma, in the Lac-Saint-Jean region, a 54-year-old man perished in a car crash. He lost control of his vehicle on Champlain Blvd. and hit the median violently. The victim may have suffered a medical problem.
Earlier in Clarendon, in the Outaouais region, a 68-year-old woman died in an ATV accident, the cause of which is unknown.

A 23-year-old cyclist sustained head injuries when she was hit by a vehicle early Sunday morning, near La Fontaine Park.
The victim was traveling at the intersection of Cherrier St. and Parc-La Fontaine Ave. at approximately 2:45 a.m. when she was hit by a car.
According to witnesses, the cyclist failed to stop at a traffic light.
