If you enjoy a good glass of wine with dinner, Montreal is an excellent place to live or eat.
Three of the city’s restaurants made OpenTable’s list of the 50 “Best Restaurants for Wine Lovers in Canada.” That outcome places Montreal ahead of Toronto (2) and Vancouver (1) in terms of the number of such destinations.
OpenTable says the list was compiled using reviews of more than 2,000 restaurants on its platform.

Police release photos of suspects in N.D.G. boutique theft
Montreal police are seeking the public’s help in identifying two suspects who allegedly stole $3,500 in cash from a merchant in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce.
The couple entered a boutique near the intersection of Sherbrooke St. W and Wilson Ave. one evening in June. One of the suspects managed to sneak behind the counter and steal the cash without the cashier noticing, police say. They also stole a smartphone and a printer before fleeing in a black car, possibly a Hyundai Elantra, police say. -

A man in his 50s caused panic at the Quebec City courthouse on Wednesday morning when he made what appears to be a suicide attempt after receiving his sentence in a child pornography case.
When Judge Christian Boulet sentenced him to six months in prison, Nicolas Boudreau, 52, swallowed an unidentified liquid substance.
The special constables intervened to perform resuscitation manoeuvres until the arrival of the paramedics, who took him to a hospital.

A Quebec Superior Court judge has ordered a medical evaluation of the ability of Ugo Fredette to appear in court to face charges of second-degree murder.
Fredette had been scheduled to appear in court in Saint-Jérôme Wednesday on those charges in connection with the death of Véronique Barbe, who was found dead in her Saint-Eustache home last Thursday.
