Cyclist injured in accident with bus in downtown Montreal
A cyclist was seriously injured in an accident with a city bus Thursday at the corner of Parc Ave. and des Pins Blvd. at 3:40 p.m. Police are advising motorists to avoid the area, particularly Parc Ave. between Sherbrooke and Mont-Royal, as they investigate the scene.
It’s the second serious accident of the day involving a cyclist and a vehicle. A 24-year-old cyclist was struck by a car on Ontario St. at 8 a.m. He suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Opioid crisis a growing burden on health system: report
The opioid crisis is having a significant impact on the health system as a growing number of Quebecers and Canadians seek emergency hospital care for overdoses related to the potent narcotics, a report released Thursday warns.

Just as Quebec got into the gun control business, it can get into the cannabis control business. The province may need to do just that to get the feds to pay their fair share of the cost of legalization.

Cyclist hospitalized after collision with car on Ontario St.
A 24-year-old cyclist is in hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries after being struck by a car Thursday morning.
The incident occurred at 8:40 a.m. when the 18-year-old motorist, travelling east on Ontario St., turned north at the intersection of St. Laurent Blvd. and struck the cyclist who was heading west on Ontario St.

Woman dies in early morning fire in east end Montreal
A 62-year-old woman died early Thursday after a fire broke out in her apartment on Bourbonnière Ave. in the city’s Hochelaga-Maisonneuve district.
The fire broke out at 6:30 a.m. and appears to have been accidental.
Firefighters tried to resuscitate the victim. Despite the fire’s accidental nature, the fact it claimed a life has led to the investigation being turned over to the arson squad. -
