Unemployment edged up slightly in Montreal, and the province as a whole in the latest job numbers unveiled Friday by Statistics Canada.

Bike-sharing company Dropbike enters Quebec market
There’s a new bike-sharing service in town.
Toronto-based Dropbike expanded to Quebec on Aug. 31 when it launched its service in Westmount.
Unlike Montreal’s Bixi system, Dropbike doesn’t use docks.
“We have eliminated those expensive docks that most bike-sharing companies have to worry about,” said Dropbike spokesperson Farnia Fekri.
The bikes are locked through a Bluetooth-controlled system, Fekri said.

Alexandre Bissonnette, accused of killing six Muslim men at a Quebec City mosque in January, is back in court under tight security.
Additional evidence was given to defence lawyers at the Quebec City courthouse, including information from computers, said one of the Crown prosecutors, Thomas Jacques. But the disclosure of the evidence is not completed.

SQ seeks other possible victims of sexual predator arrested in Ottawa
The Sûreté du Québec is looking for more potential victims of a man who has been convicted on child pornography charges.
David Sharpe, 37, was arrested in December 2016 in Ottawa after an investigation into child pornography. Sharpe was also charged with sexual offences against minors between 2008 and 2016 in Ormstown, Huntington and in Ontario.
The investigation began after a tip from police in Queensland in Australia, and also involved Ottawa police.
