Lice: Quebec relaxes school guidelines on informing parents
New government guidelines mean some parents might never know someone in their child’s class has lice.
In the past, school boards would send home a notice to parents even if only one child in the class was found to have lice, and that child would be sent home to have the lice treated.
But under new guidelines provided to school boards by Santé Quebec ahead of the new school year, no action is to be taken until lice affects 10 per cent of the group.

Opinion: Does drinking alcohol cause dementia or prevent it?
Recently there was a headline “Even a moderate amount of drinking could cause brain decline,” which was no doubt troubling to anyone who enjoys an evening cocktail.
But just a few weeks later another headline read, “Cheers! Regular drinkers might live longer lives without dementia” and oenophiles the world over breathed a collective sigh of relief.
The casual reader could be forgiven for being confused as he or she ponders whether to pour a glass of wine with dinner. -

Quebecers' jackpot hot streak continues with $16 million 6/49 win in Montreal
It seems that 2017 has been a good year for Quebecers when it comes to beating astronomically long lottery odds. The 6/49 ticket was won on a group ticket split into five shares, which doesn’t diminish the fact those five players beat odds of roughly 14 million to one. -
