Alouettes DB Brandon Stewart aims to show Lions what they lost
Wally Buono, who more or less runs the B.C. Lions with an iron fist, has often referred to himself as a benevolent dictator. Alouettes defensive-back Brandon Stewart experienced that this season.
Although Stewart was under contract to the Lions in 2017, he received a call from management in late April — one month before the start of Canadian Football League training camps — informing him he no longer was in the team’s plans. Stewart, coincidentally, suffered a torn meniscus in -

Opinion: Quebec's hospitals need advanced technologies, not threats
After injecting $100 million into Quebec’s appalling emergency health system, Health Minister Gaétan Barrette last month issued an ultimatum to hospital executives: fix emergency department crowding or be fired. He seems to think a threat will get people motivated to solve a problem never before solved. He’s wrong.
So are the health ministers of every other province that has recently attempted to address overcrowded emergency departments by increasing funding and accountabilit -

Kevin Tierney: TIFF's glory days appear to be over
The first time I attended the Cannes Film Festival in 1981, I was fortunate to meet a wise man named Jean Lefebvre, who then was in charge of Canada’s participation in international film festivals as part of the federal Ministry of Culture.
Seeing the slightly overwhelmed face of a novice Cannes attendee, Lefebvre explained to me that the role of festivals was to serve as a multiplier. That meant the people watching films at Cannes were decidedly not film consumers out for a good time. The -
