LaSalle suspect in drone drug delivery to jail to have bail hearing Friday
A LaSalle resident who is alleged to be the first person in Quebec caught delivering drugs to a detention centre using a drone is scheduled to have a bail hearing on Friday.
Tyree Virgo, 46, was arrested on Aug. 3, reportedly after an off-duty guard at the Montreal Detention Centre who was walking on a nearby bike path spotted a drone as it flew across the Rivière des Prairies and headed toward the jail. Quebec to use photo-radar fines for road-safety projects
Millions of dollars made from photo-radar fines will finance road-safety projects, Transport Minister Laurent Lessard announced on Thursday.
The news came as he announced the $30-million Financial Assistance Program of the Road Safety Fund, and called for project applications.
Organizations wishing to submit a road safety project idea to the government have until Nov. 30 to do so. Each organization can receive up to $350,000.

Montreal Impact midfielder Ignacio Piatti has been named Major League Soccer’s player of the month for August.
Piatti scored seven goals, including two game-winners, and added an assist in five games in August, including a four-game winning streak.
The Argentine recorded back-to-back braces in a 3-0 win against Chicago on Aug. 16 and a 3-1 victory over Real Salt Lake on Aug. 19, and is tied for second in MLS with four multi-goal games.

Montreal boxer Yves Ulysse faces Steve Claggett at MTelus on Oct. 27
Eye of the Tiger Management (EOTTM) and Interbox announced Thursday that Montreal boxer Yves Ulysse will face Steve Claggett from Alberta in the main event at the MTelus, which used to be known as the Metropolis, on Oct. 27.

Crumbling steeple of Quebec City church to be dismantled
The steeple of a 19th-century church in Quebec City’s Lower Town will be dismantled Thursday as it has become clear the crumbling structure is in danger of collapse.
A safety perimeter set up around the Église St-Sauveur on des Oblats Ave. extends to part of an elementary school located across the street.
