La Meute, an extreme-right and anti-Islam group, held a protest in Quebec City on Sunday while hundreds staged a counter-protest.
La Meute urged its members not to give in to taunts and insults from counter-protesters and not to engage in physical altercations.
Maxime Fiset, a reformed neo-Nazi who now works with Quebec’s Centre de prévention de la radicalization, encouraged everyone in attendance to keep the peace, saying violence would only encourage radicalization.

Montreal Pride: Calls for continued activism after police apology
Crafting a political manifesto word by careful word is a peculiar way to learn French. But Ross Higgins — a gay man who moved to Montreal in 1975 — can’t imagine a better method.
“It was a terrific learning experience,” said Higgins, an archivist at the Archives Gaies du Quebec who began to learn the language by working on the manifesto with a group of Montreal LGBTQ activists in the mid 1970s.“Every word was considered.”

Q: Your April 24, 2017 column kindly answered a question of mine about the high number of non-functioning street lights on Highway 20 all through the West Island and into the city.(Transport Quebec spokesperson) Sarah Bensadoun said that they should be functioning again by June 21. On my drive through that stretch last week, I saw no improvement. I wonder why the problem continues on Highway 20? Could it be that the lights are the responsibility of the boroughs and not the province? The sty -

Alouettes face uphill battle after missed opportunity in Toronto
TORONTO — These Alouettes do appear to enjoy living dangerously, don’t they? Once again, they seem to be in a precarious position, unable to seize an opportunity and walk through the front door when it had been opened.

But no.
