Police searching for missing man from Beloeil
A 38-year-old man has gone missing from his residence in Beloeil, Richelieu-St-Laurent police said.
Jean-Denis Marineau has been missing since Wednesday.
Jean-Denis Marineau was last seen on Aug. 16 at 3:30 p.m., police said. He was driving a 2012 grey four-door Ford Fusion. Its licence plate number is Y92 ETB. He was driving toward Highway 20.
Marineau stands roughly at six-foot-one and weighs 238 pounds, police said. He has brown hair and speaks French. At the time, he was wearing jean shorts -

Two new judges appointed in Quebec
Federal Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould appointed two new judges in Quebec on Thursday.
Judge Claudine Roy, who was most recently a Superior Court judge, will be filling a newly created judicial position at the Quebec Court of Appeal in Montreal.
Roy will be replaced by Gregory Moore, an associate with the Jolicoeur Lacasse law firm. Moore will be working as a Superior Court judge in Montreal.

Safe-drinking ad sends mixed message during Pride week

A Montreal-based video game company is laying off the majority of its workforce as it begins a restructuring process.
Hibernum, which makes games for mobile devices, has seen lower-than-expected results on certain projects, leading to a lack of liquidity, it said in a release. It blamed those problems on changes in the mobile video game industry.

The RCMP has intercepted more than 3,700 asylum seekers crossing into Quebec since the beginning of August, Chief Superintendent Claude Castonguay said on Thursday.
That equates to between 200 and 300 asylum seekers per day, said Patrick Lefort, regional director general for Quebec at Canada Border Services Agency. The news was shared at a press conference near the temporary camp at St-Bernard-de-Lacolle with officials from the RCMP and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada in attendance. -

The man who was killed after being shot several times in his upper body Wednesday night in St-Léonard has been identified by police as Antonio De Blasio, 45, who had known ties to the Montreal Mafia.
