SHERBROOKE — Despite an emotional appeal by anglophone delegates to help save the declining English school system, Liberal youth delegates have voted down the idea of a possible softening of the French Language Charter.

Update: Montreal police locate missing Russian-speaking teenage girl
Montreal police have located Farahnoz Isrofilova, 13, who disappeared Saturday night from the Saint-Laurent borough where she lives. She was was found in one of the borough’s bus shelters.
Police sought the public’s help in finding the girl, who speaks Russian and very little English. She went missing around 10 p.m. from her home located near the intersection of Modugno and Bourgoin Sts.

Laval police say officers were attacked by young concertgoers after intervening in a brawl at an outdoor concert Saturday night.
About 1,000 people had gathered for the concert which was part of a new Moroccan festival near Laurentian Highway 15 and du Souvenir Blvd. said Lieutenant Geneviève Villemure from the Laval police.
Around 8 p.m. a group of about 150 people, mostly between the ages of 15 and 18, erupted into a brawl while rapper Salimo was performing, says Villemure.
