Preliminary hearing of Michel Cadotte, accused of killing ailing wife, resumes Wednesday
A preliminary hearing will resume Wednesday in Montreal for a man charged with murdering his wife in a suspected compassion killing.
Michel Cadotte, 56, was charged in February with second-degree murder, one day after his wife, Jocelyne Lizotte, 60, was discovered in cardiac arrest at a long-term care facility.
The hearing is to determine whether there is enough evidence to send Cadotte to trial.
He was granted bail under several conditions this month.

A Longueuil jogger says he was injured Sunday after stepping into a “trap” laid along the bicycle path near Marie-Victorin Park.

Montreal police probe apparent assault near Pie IX Blvd.
Montreal police have set up a crime scene and were studying local surveillance recordings Tuesday morning in an effort to determine how a man in his 50 was so severely injured that he is now in critical condition in hospital.

More than 4,300 documents were returned during Montreal’s recent library amnesty but one particular fugitive stood out.
His or her children’s books – eight of them – were 3,875 days late.

4 men charged in violent crime spree have hearing delayed
