As many Quebecers head off for summer vacation, the province’s food banks are launching a fundraiser to remind people that hunger doesn’t take holidays.
The campaign is being organized by Moisson Montreal, Moisson Estrie and Moisson Rive-Sud.

Eighty Sleeman-Unibroue factory workers will begin returning to work on Monday after giving tentative approval for a new five-year deal.
Employees began a general strike on June 7. Their previous collective agreement expired in December 2016.

Post-flood water levels make rivers more dangerous for swimmers
Raynald Hawkins of the Société de sauvetage aux Québec is warning that as spring flooding raised the level and increased the flow in Quebec rivers, the risk of drowning has also gone up.
Hawkins warns that many rivers are not meant for swimming. He says they should only be used for boats, adding that boaters should wear a life jackets at all times.

Draft regulation on pesticides angers grain producers
Grain producers are frustrated by Quebec’s proposed draft regulation on pesticides announced on Wednesday.
The draft regulation, which is part of the Quebec 2015-2018 pesticide strategy, proposes to ban five pesticides.

Two deadly collisions in Quebec City and St-Lambert-de-Lauzon
Two deadly collisions occurred early Saturday morning in Quebec City and St-Lambert-de-Lauzon, a municipality near the province’s capital.
Around 6:30 a.m., police said a motorcycle and a heavy vehicle collided on the Charest Est Blvd. service road going towards highway Robert-Bourassa in Quebec City. The motorcyclist, stuck beneath the heavy vehicle, died.
Police said an investigation has been launched to determine the causes and consequences of the incident.
