Organized crime won’t step back from the marijuana market after it’s legalized, warned Mario Harel, the director of the Canadian Association of the Chiefs of Police, at their national conference on Wednesday in Montreal. He said it’s imperative to keep measures in place to fight black market criminals.

EDMONTON — The premiers of Quebec and Newfoundland say their governments will work to increase mining in the Labrador trough and expand Route 138 in the Côte-Nord region.
Discussions between both governments began Wednesday in Edmonton during a meeting of Canada’s premiers and could end in a formal agreement by year’s end, according to Quebec Premier Philippe Couillard.

An IGA in Montreal is growing its own vegetables on the roof
An IGA store in the Saint-Laurent borough says it’s the first grocery store in Canada to sell produce grown on its own roof.
More than 30 different kinds of produce, including lettuce, kale, garlic and basil, are being grown on 25,000-square-foot roof. All of the produce is certified organic.

Jacqueline Simoneau is no stranger to the world stage.
The swimmer from St-Laurent competed in her first FINA World Championships in synchronized swimming in 2013 when she was 16. Cops seek suspect after pepper spray incident shuts down 3 métro lines
Montreal police are hoping surveillance recordings within the Berri-UQAM métro station will help them track down the person who entered the station early Wednesday morning, fired off a blast of pepper spray that led to the shutdown of three métro lines and then left.
