OTTAWA — Two new judges — Marie-Paule Gagnon and Mario Longpré — have been appointed to the Quebec Superior Court by the federal government.
Gagnon will join Superior Court judges in Quebec City. The former practitioner in banking law will replace Judge Bernard Godbout, who chose to become a supernumerary judge starting on June 18, 2017, according to a statement released Tuesday by the federal Department of Justice.

Quebec engineering firm WSP Global (TSX: WSP) will double its work in Latin America after acquiring Chilean firm Poch, it was announced on Tuesday.
The amount of the transaction hasn’t be released, but Mona Nazie, an analyst with Laurentian Bank Securities, estimates it was about $50 million.
Founded in Santiago in 1989, Poch employs 540 people in Chili, with offices in Colombia, Peru and Mexico. It generates about $55 million annually.

The Régie intermunicipale de police Roussillon is asking for the public’s help in finding a 15-year-old boy who left a house in Ste-Catherine on Monday.
Sunny Pelletier left his house at around 5:25 p.m. and was last seen wearing a dark blue t-shirt, dark blue capris and grey shoes, police say.
Pelletier weighs 79 kilograms and is 1.8 metres tall. He has brown eyes and black hair, which is shaved on the sides and worn in a bun on the top of his head.

Archeologists sift through ruins of Montreal's Pompeii
Louise Pothier describes it as Montreal’s Pompeii.
“In Pompeii, the eruption of Vesuvius froze the city completely in time; here, a fire froze the building in time,” said the Pointe-à-Callière Museum’s chief archeologist on Tuesday.
Pothier was standing over a 1.5-metre deep pit where workers using trowels, buckets and backhoes were digging around the foundations of a building that burned down during a riot on April 25, 1849.

Longueuil police are searching a sprawling greenspace Tuesday in the wake of the discovery of two bodies near the front gates of a municipal park.
A passerby walking on Chemin des Prairies in Brossard’s Centre de pleine air — an outdoor recreational area — called 911 about 10:50 p.m. Monday after making the gruesome discovery — two men, both of them the victims of gunshot wounds.

Hearing delayed for man accused in Pointe-aux-Trembles shooting spree
The preliminary hearing of Frédérick Gingras, who is charged with two counts of first-degree murder following a violent crime spree last December, was delayed on Tuesday because the accused is having mental health problems.
Gingras’s lawyer, Kaven Morasse, told a judge that his client’s medication was changed recently and he wasn’t stable enough to participate in the preliminary hearing.

Boil water advisory issued for Repentigny and environs
The city of Repentigny is telling its own citizens as well as those in Le Gardeur and the Carrefour des fleurs de Lachenaie/Terrebonne to boil their tap water for at least one minute before consuming it and that the order is in effect until further notice.
