Trudeau remembers victims of terrorism
OTTAWA — On Friday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau marked the National Day of Remembrance for Victims of Terrorism.
For the occasion, he commemorated the 32nd anniversary of the bombing of Air India flight 182 between Toronto and Mumbai, which killed 329 people.
Trudeau described the incident, which took place on June 23, 1985, as “the worst killing and the worst attack in Canadian history.”
He also made note to remember the Canadian citizens who lost their lives in the aftermat -

The Montreal police are looking for a sweet-talking fraud artist who they say seeks out women on dating websites with the goal of stealing their money.
According to a statement issued by the police on Friday, the man meets women through dating sites like Tinder and Badoo. He claims that he is a foreign student who just arrived in Canada and needs to purchase furniture. He uses a sleight-of-hand trick to convince women that he is depositing a “government cheque” into their bank -

The City of Montreal is set to spend $22,250 to decorate shop windows on Laurier Ave. W.
Montreal’s executive committee approved a draft agreement to grant a financial contribution to the Laurier Ave. traders’ association on Wednesday.

32,000 Quebec teachers must be paid on St-Jean-Baptiste Day: ruling
Thousands of Quebec teachers, thanks to a new ruling, will soon receive pay for working on the day of Fête nationale.
The Journal de Montreal reports that 32,000 of the province’s 104,000 teachers with “precarious and non-permanent status,” such as substitutes, who were previously not paid to work the holiday, will now receive a cheque if they worked the weeks prior, as required by the labour standards Act.
