Montreal joins UNAIDS program to eradicate disease by 2030
Montreal will be the first Canadian city to join the UNAIDS Paris declaration committed to eradicating the AIDS epidemic worldwide by 2030, Mayor Denis Coderre announced Monday.
It’s estimated that in Quebec roughly 20,000 individuals are HIV-positive or suffering from AIDS. Of that number, roughly 20 to 25 per cent do not know they are infected, said Réjean Thomas, president and founder of the Actuel medical clinic.

Hydro-Québec renames its headquarters for Jean Lesage
Hydro-Québec has renamed its head office for one of the fathers of the Quiet Revolution.
On Monday, the state-owned organization announced it was renaming its building on René-Lévesque Blvd. for former Premier Jean Lesage.
Lesage was key to the establishment of Hydro-Québec and its focus on hydroelectricity as its principal source of electricity. Lesage inaugurated the building his name now appears on in 1962.
