Weather update: It was a wet May, but summer's on its way
We might not have broken any records, but you’re not wrong in thinking it was a crummy month of May.
The total rainfall in Quebec was 113.9 mm, which doesn’t come near the record of 173.4 mm, established in May 2006, but it’s well above the climate normal average of 81.2 mm for May from 1981 to 2010.
“We’re on the higher end of the spectrum,” said Environment Canada meteorologist Michèle Fleury, adding it didn’t help “it was quite grey.&rdqu -

Jennifer Campbell's Social Notes: June 3, 2017: Never Apart benefits from the Wiggle phenomenon
The sun was out, the air was balmy (at last) and I was on my way to a local hair emporium to try on wigs in a variety of lengths, styles and hues, the more outrageous the better. I finally settled on an electric red bob that brought back fond memories of Viv in the epic Cinderella flick Pretty Woman. Who knows, maybe I too would have a Prince Gere in my near future?Admittedly though, the outta-the-comfort zone purchase was not man-based. Rather … it was WIGGLE-based!

Quebec floods: Why disaster will strike again
At 4 a.m. on Feb. 28, 2010, as residents slept in La Faute-sur-Mer in western France, the 80-year-old seawall built to protect their town collapsed and the ocean came pouring in.
Whipped up by 160-km/h storm winds, the waters of the frigid Atlantic surged into the dozens of homes built in a below-sea-level bowl near the beach, killing 29 mostly older residents trapped in one-storey bungalows.
Hundreds of survivors perched on their roofs for hours in the biting rain, awaiting rescue.

Freed: Trump gives world leaders an unfair shake
Donald Trump is taking on world leaders in genuine hand-to-hand combat.
Across the globe, prime ministers and presidents are being coached by their strategists on how to handle the Trump handshake.
Trump likes to seize peoples’ palms in a bone-crunching grip, then drag them into his personal territory in a rip-your-arm-off wrestling move.

Will Marc Bergevin sign Galchenyuk to a long-term contract?
Marc Bergevin has lots on his plate this summer. Carey Price’s contract is up at the end of next season, but most of us figure he’ll try to re-sign the greatest-goalie-who’s-never-won-anything-in-the-playoffs this summer because the Canadiens’ general manager won’t want that issue hanging like a dark cloud over the team all season. You don’t want to be hearing endless media chatter about whether or not Price is going to sign with the Habs, which would be just -
