Magrath Days celebrate southern Alberta town’s 125th birthday
The Town of Magrath is throwing a 125th birthday party this weekend. Magrath Days will feature a range of events, including a parade, softball tournament, motocross show and town barbeque. Saturday night, Coyote Junction and a Diggers Theatrical play will hit the stage ahead of a fireworks show to cap off the weekend. Magrath was founded in 1899 by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to fulfill its settlement agreement with the Alberta railway. -

Fire crews from across southern Alberta fight large fire at Coaldale recycling plant
Fire crews from a number of different southern Alberta communities tackled a fire at a Coaldale recycling plant late Friday afternoon. The blaze sent plumes of thick black smoke into the sky shortly after 4 p.m. Friday. Crews from Coaldale, Picture Butte, Coalhurst and Taber worked to contain the fire. CTV News has reached out to the Coaldale Fire Department for details and will update this story as more information becomes available. -
Repair work underway in Montana to get water flowing into Milk River
It’s been over a month since the St. Mary siphon in Montana burst. Repair work has now begun to get water flowing into the Milk River again. The old siphon is now being removed to make for repair work. Building pads for cranes and geotechnicals investigations drill rigs are also being built. Next week, equipment for the project will be making its way to the site. Repair work is expected to be completed by the fall of 2025. -
