Dawgs stay home to win rare road game at Seaman Stadium
The Okotoks claimed a road win Thursday night without having to leave the friendly confines of Seaman Stadium as they topped Edmonton 7-2. Because of field renovations at the Prospects’ home field in Edmonton, they opted to play the game in Seaman Stadium, with Edmonton getting the final at-bat rather than Okotoks. It ended up not mattering, as Okotoks got big games from hometown favourite Connor Crowson, who scored three runs himself. Jarrett Burney scored two and had two hits, Barry Eise -

Calgary men encouraged to get prostate blood test
Maybe the best Father's Day present of them all is a clean bill of health. Saturday at Southcentre Mall, the organizers behind The Man Van, a mobile clinic, hope that a bunch of Calgary men between 40 and 80 will spend less than 15 minutes on their prostate health while visiting the mall. A prostate cancer diagnosis will be a reality for one in six men in Alberta in their lifetime, based on Prostate Cancer Centre data. The good news is that prostate cancer can be curable, especially w -

Airports demand millions in unpaid fees from defunct Lynx Air
Airports are knocking on Lynx Air's door to demand $4.1 million in unpaid fees from the defunct discount carrier. In court filings, authorities for the Calgary, Vancouver, Edmonton, Halifax and Winnipeg airports are asking for an order instructing Lynx to hand over airport improvement fees that the Alberta-based airline held in reserve. The documents show that Calgary is owed the most, with the airport claiming to be out of pocket $2 million after the carrier shut down in February -

Calgary to see warm Friday with potential for severe weather later in the day
There is a reason the phrase "the perfect storm" was coined, and Friday will be a boom or bust day to prove it. Initially, conditions in southern Alberta will be great. Calgary’s daytime high of 23 C should be reached early in the day, but if certain ingredients align "just right," what begins as a nice start could turn into an afternoon with large-sized hail, strong wind and potential tornadic activity in the province. A low complex off the coast of British Columbia has started to show a -

A scan of the broken water main in Calgary that has resulted in restrictions throughout the city has revealed five more locations in the pipe that require repair, which will delay the length of time for repairs and the restoration of water services. The city estimates the restrictions could be in place for three to five more weeks. “Simply put, we cannot take the chance of further pipe breaks on the long-term sustainability of this pipe,” said Susan Henry, chief of the Calgary Emerge -
