Fire crews battle blaze at southeast Calgary warehouse
The Calgary Fire Department quickly got the upper hand on a large fire that broke out inside a southeast warehouse Sunday night. A fire in the 3900 block of 54 Avenue S.E. was reported at 10 p.m. Firefighters found heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof of the building. After about an hour and a half, they were able to get inside and extinguish the fire. One employee, who called 911, was at the building when it began. They were able to get out safely. Police investigate stabbing at downtown Calgary CTrain station
Calgary police say charges are pending after an apparent stabbing at the Eighth Street CTrain platform on Monday morning. Police were called to the area at 5 a.m. from a help phone on the CTrain platform. The victim was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition, but his condition has since been upgraded to stable. Calgary police shut down an LRT platform Monday morning for an investigation. There is no confirmation about what took place or when, but officers blocked off the scene at Eighth Street and Seventh Avenue S.W. and trains were not stopping at the station as of 6:30 a.m.An ambulance was seen driving away from the scene earlier in the morning.
