The boy started to return home until, after losing sight of the stranger, he decided to make his way to school. The same male caught up to the boy a short time later and grabbe -
Gleichen, Alta., pharmacist fined $16K after allowing unregulated staff to hand out prescriptions
A pharmacist in a hamlet east of Calgary has been sanctioned by the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) after she allowed unregulated staff members to fill and hand out prescriptions to customers. The penalty comes after the ACP tribunal said Bernadette Galang admitted to unprofessional conduct at her business, the Medicine Shoppe #416, located in Gleichen, Alta. The board says she has built a system where there were times when the pharmacy was open to the public on Fridays without having a pharma -
No natural gas rebate for Albertans in February, province says
The Alberta government says homeowners will still be seeing an energy rebate on their February utility bills, but it won't be as much as it was last month. The province says the price for natural gas has dropped nearly $3 for next month – the highest monthly default rate is $3.715 per gigajoule, compared to January's $6.446 per gigajoule rate. That means a natural gas rebate won't happen. Under the government's program, when the monthly default rate exceeds $6.50 per gigajoule, consumers w -

Upward of five centimetres of snow fell in Calgary early Friday morning but city officials say roads are in good winter driving condition ahead of the impending temperature drop. As of 7 a.m., city crews were focusing their efforts on Priority 1 routes — roads that see more than 20,000 vehicles each day — and were plowing snow and laying down aggregate to prevent icing. Roads were primarily wet, with significant snow buildup, Friday morning but will likely become icy as the temperatu -

Cold weekend for Calgary following flurry-filled Friday morning
And awayyyy it goes. The Environment Canada Past 24 Hours section shows that at one point overnight, Calgary's visibility hit one kilometre as the snow fell. I'm happy to report that, as of 5 a.m., most of the snow has already fallen. If you've checked into the ol' phone app and noted a high near 0 C today, that still tracks. However, as we push to the point where we'd normally see our daytime high – within the last couple hours before sunset, on a normal day – that's where the patte -
