U.S. judge orders Dawn Walker to be returned to officials in Canada
A Saskatoon woman who was arrested in Oregon for allegedly using false identification to cross the border with her seven-year-old son is to be returned to Canada. Judge Stacie F. The prosecution and defence both consented to Walker's return to Canada after she waived a formal extradition process, which would likely be lengthy. Scott Kerin, Assistant U.S. Attorney for th -

Lawn-killing chinch bugs becoming abundant in all Calgary quadrants
They're a small pest that have a big appetite for Calgary lawns. Chinch bugs live in the thatch layer and suck out the plant's nutrients while injecting a toxin killing the blade of grass. The result is small dead patches that will gradually expand to engulf an entire lawn. For more than seven years, the pests infested many southeast green spaces, but now lawn-care companies are receiving calls from home owners all over the city. James Szojka is the owner of Yard Dawgs Lawn Care and says the bug -

Fake 'Canad' money fools Lethbridge business; police investigating
The print quality on fake money used to make a purchase at a Lethbridge establishment was good, police say. It was similar enough to legitimate currency that a staff member didn't spot the differences until after the male customer who handed it to them was long gone. Now police in the southern Alberta city are trying to track that person down. Officers were called to the unnamed business on Aug. 15 and were presented with five $20 bills twenties that were determined to be counterfeit. While conv -

MP says Ottawa underestimated Canadians' desire to travel again
A member of Parliament says Ottawa may have underestimated Canadians' desire to travel when planning for a return to normal following the end of most pandemic restrictions. Airlines and airports have been grappling with a surge in customers this summer, compounded by staffing shortages affecting both carriers and federal agencies. As a result, travellers have experienced widespread flight cancellations, baggage delays and lengthy lineups, particularly at Toronto's Pearson International Airport. -
