Jasper is the only Canadian entry. The Alberta mountain town finds itself among the likes of Kruger National Park in South Africa, Fuji-Hakone-Izu in Japan, Plitvice Lakes in Croatia and Corcovado in Costa Rica to name a few. Jasper can sometimes be overshadowed by it’s cousin to the south, Banff, but Outside said -

More midweek snow possible for Calgary
UPDATE: A clearer picture is beginning to develop of the system that could follow the ~3 cm Wednesday evening. Calgary may run into a whole lot more snow Thursday evening and beyond into pockets of Friday. Some models are picking up a disturbance that isn't quite verified just yet. If that second wave pushes through, we'll have a snowfall total exceeding 10 cm, which will include our Wednesday skiff. Significant areas of impact would be the highway-22 corridor, and the boundary-lands from Lloydm -
Midweek snow and a temperature drop for Calgary
We're back! I hope last week treated everyone well – yesterday was a warm one! We'll have an in-depth look at how the province fared this evening during the 5 and 6 newscasts, but for interest's sake, Calgary's airport was the warmest spot in the province yesterday, though only the 26th-warmest spot in the nation. New less stringent COVID-19 testing measures arrive for Canadians returning from abroad
Stringent COVID-19 testing measures have dissuaded some Canadians from travelling abroad throughout the pandemic, but those measures have been scaled back. Fully vaccinated travellers returning to Canada, including those arriving at YYC Calgary International Airport, will still need to take a COVID-19 test, but it no longer has to be a costly polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. A rapid antigen test is now accepted as long as it has been completed within a day of arrival and was observed by a m -

World's largest plane destroyed in Ukraine
The world's largest aircraft, the Antonov AN-225, has been destroyed during the Russian invasion of Ukraine, according to Ukrainian officials, generating alarm and sadness among the aviation world in which it occupies almost cult status. How interest rate hikes could affect your mortgage payment
Despite the Bank of Canada’s key overnight interest rate target holding steady at 0.25 per cent, the bank has signalled that interest rates are expected to rise, and soon. An increase in the cost of borrowing will undoubtedly impact a number of homeowners, said Robert Hogue, a senior economist with the Royal Bank of Canada. He expects interest rates to rise gradually throughout the year and into 2023, he said, resulting in a cumulative impact on Canadian homeowners depending on the type of -
Ukraine talks yield no breakthrough as Russians close in
The first round of talks aimed at stopping the fighting between Ukraine and Russia ended Monday with no agreement except to keep talking, while an increasingly isolated Moscow ran into unexpectedly fierce resistance on the ground and economic havoc at home. Five days into Russia’s invasion, the Kremlin again raised the specter of nuclear war, while an embattled Ukraine moved to solidify its ties to the West by applying to join the European Union — a largely symbolic move unlikely to -
Ukraine slows Russian advance, talks underway in Belarus
Russian and Ukrainian officials met for talks Monday amid high hopes but low expectations for any diplomatic breakthrough, after Moscow ran into unexpectedly stiff resistance when it unleashed the biggest land war in Europe since World War II. Outgunned Ukrainian forces managed to slow the Russian advance and Western sanctions began to squeeze the Russian economy, but the Kremlin again raised the specter of nuclear war, reporting that its land, air and sea nuclear forces were on high alert follo -
Ukraine seeks to join EU as round of talks with Russia ends
An embattled Ukraine moved to solidify its bond with the West on Monday by signing an application to join the European Union, while the first round of Ukraine-Russia talks aimed at ending the fighting concluded with no immediate agreements. Russian forces shell Ukraine’s second-largest city and menace Kyiv
Russian forces shelled Ukraine’s second-largest city on Monday, rocking a residential neighbourhood, and closed in on the capital, Kyiv, in a 27-kilometre convoy of hundreds of tanks and other vehicles, as talks aimed at stopping the fighting yielded only an agreement to keep talking.
