Windy today in Calgary, milder tomorrow
Let's try that again. Yesterday, Calgary sat on the periphery of a very warm day, but it never materialized; we finished with a high of 14 C. Okotoks hit 18 C; Claresholm, 22 C. Today, we'll take another solid crack at it. The unanimity between forecast models paints a picture for wind out of the south and highs in the 20s across the board, with that warmth cutting off a little further north up the QE2. But that's it. The trough that's producing this strong southwesterly wind aloft is expected t -

Officials: California oil pipeline split, apparently dragged
The pipeline that leaked tens of thousands of gallons of oil into the water off Southern California was split open and apparently dragged along the ocean floor, authorities said Tuesday. Coast Guard Capt. Rebecca Ore said divers determined about 4,000 feet (1,219 meters) of the pipeline was “laterally displaced” by about 105 feet (32 meters). She did not say what might have caused it to move. In addition, the pipeline had a 13-inch (33-centimeters) gash in it, Ore said. The head of t -
Evidence suggests ship anchor snagged, dragged oil pipeline
Evidence emerged Tuesday that a ship's anchor snagged and dragged an underwater pipeline that ruptured and spilled tens of thousands of gallons of crude oil off Southern California, an accident the Coast Guard acknowledged it did not investigate for nearly 10 hours after the first call came in about a possible leak. Hanifin had to shut down his season late last year, after being injured in an April 24th game against the Montreal Canadiens. Two days later, it was announced that he needed shoulder surgery and was done for the season. -
