Skunk with jar stuck on its head rescued by Calgary police constables
Wednesday night, thanks to a couple of innovative Calgary police officers, a real-life Pepe Le Pew became Pepe Le Whew. That's because a Taradale homeowner happened to notice a forlorn skunk wandering across their back deck with a jar stuck to its head. After reaching out to several agencies and pest-control companies and getting nowhere, the homeowner called the police. City vaccination bylaw eases pressure on some businesses, but Cochrane won't follow
Some Calgary businesses say while the new city vaccination bylaw doesn't change what they do, it does ease some of the pressure on front line staff. "People actually thought it was a choice that we were given, but the reality for businesses like ours, it really wasn't much of a choice that the province provided us," said Andy Fennell, owner of Gravity Cafe and Wine Bar in Inglewood. The bylaw passed Wednesday night by a vote of 13 to 1, with only mayoral candidate Jeromy Farkas voting against. I -
Monahan looks to rebound from injury-riddled season as Flames open up camp
As a top line centre for the Calgary Flames, Sean Monahan has always been able to put up points. But last season the 26-year-old struggled through a less than productive year. Monahan scored just 10 goals and added 18 assists in 50 games. He didn't look right for much of the season and now we know why. Monahan says he hurt his hip in about the sixth game and tried to play through it. He eventually had to shut things down late in the season. "Obviously very frustrating," Monahan
