Twitter: Hack hit 130 accounts, company 'embarrassed'
Twitter says the hack that compromised the accounts of some of its most high-profile users targeted 130 people. The hackers were able to reset the passwords of 45 of those accounts. The San Francisco-based company said in a blog post Saturday that for up to eight of these accounts the attackers also downloaded the account's information through the "Your Twitter Data" tool. None of the eight were verified accounts, Twitter said, adding that it is contacting the owners of the affected accounts. "W -

A missing father whose daughters were found dead one week ago in a densely wooded area southwest of Quebec City is "probably dead" unless he has moved to a new location, according to one analyst. Provincial police announced Saturday night that they had suspended a ground search for Martin Carpentier after 10 days. Former RCMP deputy commissioner Peter German told CTV News Channel that the 44-year-old is likely no longer alive if he is still in the bush. "I would think it's doubtful after 10 days -

Children over age 10 spread COVID-19 as much as adults, study finds
A new study has found that older children transmit the novel coronavirus to others as well as adults do, contradicting the perception that COVID-19 affects all young people less than it does the elderly. The study, released Thursday by the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, reported that children up to age 10 spread COVID-19 much less than adults do. However, children aged 10 to 19 were just as likely as adults to transmit the virus to someone else. South Korean researchers identi -
Facing anonymous sexual misconduct claim a form of hell, BQ leader says
Bloc Quebecois Leader Yves-Francois Blanchet says he's incapable of the kind of sexual misconduct alleged against him in an anonymous Facebook post. He says the claim that he tried to force himself on a woman in the washroom of a Montreal bar in 1999, when he was a manager in the music business, does a disservice to real victims of sexual assault. In a Sunday news conference on Parliament Hill, he calls facing such allegations a form of hell. Bloc Quebecois MPs are standing behind their leader. -

Lockdown fatigue, 'invincibility' causing more COVID-19 infections in young people
More young people are being infected with COVID-19, creating the potential for a severe outbreak, scientists warn. They say the change in demographics could be attributed to lockdown fatigue, increased testing or feelings of invincibility. Brett Snider, a water resources PhD student at the University of Guelph, first noticed a higher number of infections in the under 20 and 20-29 age groups in the Toronto and Peel regions in May.Newsletter sign-up: Get The COVID-19 Brief sent to your inboxSnider -

U.S. colleges say international students are studying elsewhere thanks to Trump's immigration stance
Even with a fresh victory on behalf of international students, U.S. universities fear they're losing a broader fight over the nation's reputation as a place that embraces and fosters the world's best scholars. University leaders see it as a steady erosion. They say the Trump administration's repeated attempts to curb immigration have sent students a message that they aren't welcome in the United States. Colleges say foreign students are listening: Since President Donald Trump was elected in 2016 -

Jellied salad, a staple of 1950s cuisine, is making a comeback in 2020
To be eaten at dinner or saved for dessert? Stuffed with shaved carrots or tinned peaches? These are among the many questions that can only be associated with one dish: the jellied salad. The sugary concoction, made from gelatin stuffed with fruits or vegetables, initially rose to fame in the 1950s and 60s. Christopher White, a church minister from Ontario, said he thought he'd seen the last of jellied salads, once a mainstay at church functions. But when White started doing some more research, -
