From worst to first: Dinos women's hockey team turns it around
Last season was a tough one for the University of Calgary's Dinos women’s hockey team. They ended the year with just five wins. So it wasn’t much of a shocker in a pre-season poll of the coaches that they were ranked dead last. Instead of taking it personally, however, the players took it as a challenge. Goaltender Kelsey Roberts says those low expectations gave the team plenty of motivation. “Obviously getting ranked last in the league was a tough pill to swallow," Rober -

Evergreen Estate mailboxes not broken into, says Canada Post
What appeared to be a break-in at an Evergreen Estates community mailbox wasn't, or so says the post office. That was the official response Wednesday to a query from a neighbourhood photographer, who wondered what the story was behind the apparent break-in. It appeared to be the latest in a string of mailbox break-ins, which perhaps climaxed back on Nov. 21, 2019 in the Spring Hill Bank neighbourhood in southwest Calgary, when five mailboxes were broken into between midnight and five in the morn -
Evergreen Estate mailboxes not broken into, post office says

UCP extends childcare program, but some operators say they’ve been left in the dark
The Alberta government says it will extend the first phase of its $25-a-day child care pilot program until June, instead of ending it in March of this year as originally planned. But some child care operators say the decision is putting undue pressure on their operations because program planning is difficult without knowing the province’s long-term plans. Under the NDP government, a $25-a-day daycare program was rolled out to 22 operators across the province in April of 2017. The following -

B.C. case attempting to halt Trans Mountain expansion to be heard in Supreme Court
The B.C. government will ask Canada's high court Thursday to give it authority over what can flow through the expanded Trans Mountain pipeline from Alberta. The case is a make-it-or-break-it affair for the multibillion-dollar project: if B.C. is allowed to prevent heavy oil from flowing through the pipeline, it would crush the expansion's entire reason for being. It is also a significant case for the federal government, which bought the pipeline in 2018 when B.C.'s court challenge convinced Kind -
