    RENTON, Wash. (AP) — The U.S. Coast Guard suspended the search Monday afternoon for nine people, including a child, who were missing after a floatplane crashed in the waters of Puget Sound northwest of Seattle.

    VANCOUVER — The hearing to determine if a man accused of killing RCMP Const. Shaelyn Yang is fit to stand trial has begun in the BC Supreme Court in Vancouver.

  • Fraser Valley communities break daily temperature records Thursday

    FRASER VALLEY — A number of B.C. communities sweat out some new daily high records this week, including in the Fraser Valley.
    Agassiz reported 16.1 C on Thursday (Feb. 6), more than two degrees warmer than its 1984 record of 14 C.
    Abbotsford was also up by 1.3 C from its previous daily high in 1984 at 16.4 degrees.
    The Hope area hit a marginal record of 12.8 C, beating its 1941 numbers of 12.1 C.
    Pitt Meadows matched its 1941 temperature of 14.4.

    CHILLIWACK — January labour figures from Statistics Canada are painting a more optimistic monthly picture across B.C.
