    DENVER — The expansion Denver Summit have acquired Canadian international Janine Sonis in a trade with Racing Louisville in exchange for up to US$$160,000 in intraleague transfer funds.
    The 31-year-old Sonis, who was set to enter the final year of her Louisville contract, has signed a new deal through the 2028 NWSL season.

    GATINEAU — A company that operated a chemical manufacturing plant in western Quebec has been fined $1.35 million for discharging a harmful substance into the Rivière du Lièvre in 2019.
    Superior General Partner Inc., which owned and operated the Erco Mondial plant in 2019, had pleaded guilty in Quebec court to 12 counts of discharging sodium chlorite into the water, a violation of the Fisheries Act.

    LANGLEY — A pedestrian has been killed after being hit by a train in Langley, B.C., Thursday night.
    RCMP say it happened at about 7:55 p.m. near 206 Street and 98 Avenue.
    Police, firefighters and ambulance responded to a call reporting the incident and found the unidentified victim who had been struck by a train.
    The pedestrian died at the scene.

    CHETWYND — A 21-year-old man is now facing multiple criminal charges in a 2024 crash that left two people dead, including a 15-year-old boy.
