LAIDLAW — A novice driver’s newly purchased Ford Mustang had to sit in the impound lot for a week after it drove at double the speed limit early this month.
On February 4, at 4:30 p.m., the vehicle was clocked doing 200 km/h in a 100 zone heading eastbound on Highway 1 at McKay Road in Laidlaw, roughly 16 kilometres west of Hope.

CHILLIWACK — Three men are now facing charges after a fatal shooting in Chilliwack earlier this week.
On Sunday, February 15, at about 8:40 a.m., RCMP responded to the shooting at a home on Mellard Avenue and found two men suffering from gunshot wounds inside.
One of them, 48-year-old Kristopher Benson, died on scene. The other was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Supreme Court has struck down President Donald Trump's use of a national security statute to deploy tariffs, reining in his efforts to realign global trade.
Trump used the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, better known as IEEPA, for his “Liberation Day” tariffs and fentanyl-related duties on Canada, Mexico and China.
