COPPER MOUNTAIN, Colo. (AP) — Alice Robinson of New Zealand secured a record-setting World Cup giant slalom victory at Copper Mountain on Saturday while American star Mikaela Shiffrin managed only the 14th best time.
Her fifth career win made Robinson the most successful women’s World Cup winner from a non-European or North American country, according to the International Ski and Snowboard Federation.
Robinson led after the first run and defended her advantage on the second go.

1 seriously injured in pedestrian collision in Langley Friday afternoon
LANGLEY — Police in Langley are investigating a pedestrian-involved collision that occurred Friday afternoon, November 28.
At around 4:37 p.m., RCMP responded to a report of a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian in the 3700 block of 224 Street.
BC Ambulance Service and the Township of Langley Fire Department also attended, found the pedestrian with serious injuries, and took the individual to a local hospital.
The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with police.

PRINCE GEORGE — Canada's cross-country ski trials for the Olympic Games have been moved from Prince George, B.C., to Vernon, B.C., because of adverse snow conditions.
The trials that will determine Canada's team for February's Olympic Games in Milan-Cortina, Italy, will keep the same Dec. 13-17 dates, but will be run at Sovereign Lake Nordic Centre instead of Caledonia Nordic Ski Centre.

MADURAI — Captain Ben Hasbach scored three goals Saturday to help defending champion Germany blank Canada 7-0 on Day 2 of the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup.

B.C. police watchdog continues investigation into Burnaby man’s death after arrest
BURNABY — The Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO) has given an update on the ongoing investigation of a man’s death this past summer.
Shortly after 4:30 p.m. on July 4, Burnaby RCMP responded to a disturbance call in the 7000 block of Hillview Street, with concerns that the man was also possibly suffering a mental health issue.

NAGASAKI — Canada slumped to its fourth straight defeat Saturday, blanked 3-0 by Japan in a women's soccer friendly.

BELLA COOLA — B.C. conservation officers have ruled out any link between four captured grizzly bears and a recent attack on a group of schoolchildren and their teachers.
