WINNIPEG — From lasers to stem cell therapy, no treatment is being spared for injured Montreal Alouettes starting quarterback Davis Alexander.
Alexander was at the controls for Montreal’s first practice on Wednesday in preparation for Sunday’s Grey Cup game against the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
He was rolling out and jogging, but not sprinting yet because of the left hamstring he tweaked in last Saturday’s CFL East Division final win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

SUMMERLAND — A British Columbia animal sanctuary whose birds have been sickened by an avian flu outbreak says it has been receiving threats and "unjustified hate" since going public with its situation.
Critteraid in Summerland, B.C., is pushing back against misinformation after announcing on Friday that it was co-ordinating with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and other authorities about the outbreak.

Downed tree leaves hundreds without power in Abbotsford Wednesday morning
ABBOTSFORD — A downed tree across hydro wires has left a little under 500 customers without power in Abbotsford Wednesday morning.
BC Hydro’s online outage dashboard indicates 485 customers lost power at 10:27 a.m. due to a downed tree.
Crews are on their way and expected to arrive by noon.
The affected area includes Matsqui and Ridgedale.
There is currently no expected time when power might be restored to these Abbotsford customers.
