Canada signs defence pact with the Philippines
OTTAWA — Defence Minister David McGuinty has signed a defence co-operation agreement with the Philippines as he visits the country.
A National Defence press release says the agreement will allow the armed forces of both countries to work closer together by participating in operations and exercises in each other’s territories.

Chris Tanev hospitalized after collision in Maple Leafs’ win
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Chris Tanev was taken to the hospital after an on-ice collision with another player in Saturday night's 5-2 win over Philadelphia but had movement in all extremities, coach Craig Berube said.
