BARCELONA, Spain (AP) — Barcelona clinched its 28th Spanish league title after Lamine Yamal starred in its 2-0 win at crosstown rival Espanyol on Thursday.
Yamal scored in the 53rd minute when the teenage phenom slid past two defenders along the edge of the area before he whipped one of his now trademark left-footed curlers into the corner of the net.

RIMOUSKI — Jury selection is beginning in the trial of a man charged with killing three people with a truck in eastern Quebec.
Forty-year-old Steeve Gagnon faces five charges, including three counts of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder.
Gagnon turned himself in to police after a truck struck pedestrians on a main street of Amqui, Que., in March 2023.
The town is about 350 kilometres northeast of Quebec City.

MONTREAL — A coroner is scheduled to release her report today into the death of a homeless Innu man whose body was found inside a portable toilet in Montreal.Fifty-one-year-old Raphaël “Napa” André died in January 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic.
His body was found steps away from a shelter that had been closed by public health officials because of plumbing problems and a COVID-19 outbreak.

KHAN YOUNIS, Gaza Strip (AP) — A hospital in southern Gaza says 54 people have been killed in overnight airstrikes on the city of Khan Younis.
An Associated Press cameraman in Khan Younis counted 10 airstrikes on the city overnight into Thursday, and saw numerous bodies taken to the morgue in the city’s Nasser Hospital. Some bodies arrived in pieces, with some body bags containing the remains of multiple people. The hospital’s morgue confirmed 54 people had been killed.
