OTTAWA — The Conservatives’ favourite slogan — “axe the tax” — has been a rallying cry for the better part of three years as frustrated Canadians looked for relief from the rising cost of living.
But now, with key Liberal leadership candidates backing away from the federal consumer carbon price, some have been asking whether the Tories need to axe their slogan as well.

RICHMOND, B.C. — Police in Richmond, B.C., are searching for seven suspects in an alleged retail theft of fragrances worth more than $2,400.
RCMP say the theft took place on Nov. 11 of last year, when the seven men reportedly entered a store in the 3800 block of Steveston Highway.

OTTAWA — The Competition Bureau confirms that it is investigating the possible use of AI-driven algorithmic pricing in Canadian real estate rental markets.
The practice involves real estate companies using programs that track what competitors are charging for rent and leases.

ENTWISTLE, Alta. — RCMP say a two-week-old who was bitten by a dog at a home west of Edmonton has died in hospital.
The baby was airlifted to the Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton after the attack Sunday in the hamlet of Entwistle, Alta.
