OTTAWA — U.S. President Donald Trump could be just days away from hitting Canada with punishing tariffs. Here’s a look at the industries that would be hit the hardest.
Statistics Canada says the value of Canadian exports to the United States in 2023 exceeded $594 billion. More than 43 per cent of that came from just six industries: oil and gas extraction, oil and gas refining, auto manufacturing, aluminum production and processing, aerospace and crop and animal production.

OTTAWA — The Ottawa Redblacks released veteran American defensive back Brandin Dandridge on Wednesday.Dandridge, 28, appeared in nine regular-season games in 2024, registering 28 tackles, two interceptions and a forced fumble.
The five-foot-11, 180-pound Dandridge spent five seasons with Ottawa. He recorded 90 tackles, 11 interceptions, four forced fumbles and two defensive touchdowns in 40 regular-season contests.

JASPER, ALTA. — The Insurance Bureau of Canada says last year’s wildfire in Jasper, Alta., which destroyed one-third of the town’s homes and buildings, is the second costliest fire disaster in the country’s history.
It says a revised estimate on total damage has increased to $1.23 billion from $880 million.
