CHILLIWACK — Mounties in Chilliwack say a 42-year-old man who was convicted of drug trafficking but allegedly breached conditions of his supervision order has been taken into custody.
According to a statement from Chilliwack RCMP Corporal Carmen Kiener, officers from the Chilliwack RCMP Drug Section teamed up with the assistance of the BC Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit to arrest Clayton Eheler, who was found to have allegedly breached the conditions of his parole. MONTREAL — Quebec Superior Court has approved a class action settlement that could provide as much as $10.25 million to victims who were sexually abused by a minor hockey coach in a Montreal suburb.

MONTREAL — A second accuser is on the stand today at the civil trial involving allegations of sexual assault against former Just for Laughs founder Gilbert Rozon.
Guylaine Courcelles alleges that Rozon sexually assaulted her in 1987 at his home in the Montreal suburb of Outremont when she was 22 years old and Rozon was in his 30s.
Courcelles testified that she was supposed to meet with Rozon about the possibility of a long-term job at his Just for Laughs entertainment company.

Swimmer Summer McIntosh wins Northern Star Award after dominant Paris Olympics
TORONTO — Swimmer Summer McIntosh has won the Northern Star Award as Canada’s athlete of the year after a dominant performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The 18-year-old from Toronto won three gold medals in Paris, becoming the first Canadian athlete to accomplish that feat at an Olympic Games, summer or winter.

National rent prices decline year-over-year to 15-month low: report
TORONTO — A new report says average asking rents fell nationally on a year-over-year basis to $2,139 in November, marking a 15-month low.
The monthly report from Rentals.ca and Urbanation finds average asking rents across Canada were down 1.6 per cent from the same month last year, as rents dropped for the second month in a row after more than three years of increases.
