MAPLE RIDGE – B.C.’s Conservation Officer Service (COS) says a black bear was killed during an attack in Maple Ridge on Wednesday.In a statement, the COS said the incident happened around 2:30 p.m. on a trail near 240th Street, where a man was walking an off-leash dog.Investigators say the bear initially engaged with the dog being walked by the man.“The owner was able to gain control of his dog and attempted to leave when the bear re-engaged,” the COS said.
