NEW WESTMINSTER, B.C. — Metro Vancouver’s transit authority says the West Coast Express commuter train service shut down last week due to the Canada-wide rail stoppage will resume operations this week.
TransLink issued a statement saying services will resume there normal schedules starting Monday, although there may be some delays “due to freight traffic backlog.”

JASPER — Parks Canada says a weekend drenching of rain on parts of Jasper National Park is doing a lot to quell fire activity, but the wet weather also comes with a warning.

CHILLIWACK — A low-pressure system that moved through southern B.C. from Friday evening to Saturday afternoon brought heavy rain and strong wind gusts, leading to new daily precipitation records in several communities on Saturday (Aug. 24).

Maple Ridge man facing second-degree murder charge
MAPLE RIDGE — Maple Ridge RCMP say a 26-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with a fatal shooting in that community earlier this year.

SICAMOUS, B.C. — A semi-trailer truck has plunged 18 metres off a highway bridge in Sicamous, B.C., and emergency officials say the driver — the only occupant — is missing.
